My first time at Trinity was as an international visiting student during my undergraduate years. I was very impressed (astounded, actually) by the level and quality of tuition I received. After obtaining my Bachelor's degree, I enrolled in the Diploma in Old Irish, which proved to be excellent to acquire the knowledge of Old Irish necessary for entering the Master's programme where I continued my studies the following year. Among the many strong sides of the M.Phil. in Early Irish, I must specifically mention the impressive variety of taught courses and overall multidisciplinary approach. The courses are very well structured and, combined with guided research practice and thesis writing, prepare the students perfectly for further academic careers. Beyond that, it is important to note that at Trinity the students are always treated with respect. I am incredibly grateful to the Department of Irish & Celtic Languages and to all my professors for this amazing and life-changing experience.

My time at Trinity College has been transformative, I've grown as a person and it has helped me progress in my career in a new industry, and for that, I will forever be indebted to the university. There is so much to say about my time as a Film student at Trinity, but I think the most important thing is just how much I enjoyed it. In Film, being surrounded by both my classmates’ and teachers’ love of film, the impossibility of making a life in film became possible. I think when you study something you love, a B.A. goes from being a requirement for gainful employment, to a really transformative experience.

I decided that Classical Civilisation was the course for me after meeting with one of the professors in the department at an open day and being fully captured by the enthusiasm and love and sheer knowledge for the course that they had. There’s something uniquely thrilling about studying in Trinity. I still feel a little sense of wonder when I walk in through the front arch every morning and see that view. Trinity lies at the heart of Dublin city centre and studying here you really do feel like you are immersed in the hustle and bustle of the city.

What interested me most when reading about Linguistics at Trinity was its interdisciplinary nature. The study of linguistics often intersects with areas such as psychology, philosophy and neuroscience, so each week offers something new and exciting. Language is something we use every day without even thinking about it, but through studying linguistics, I’ve begun to understand how this intrinsic human ability shapes the very way we interact with the world around us. I would 100% recommend linguistics at Trinity to anyone who loves analysing language, wants a diverse course of study, and is interested in working with linguists and students both from across the college and across the world.

Tara Coleman

I chose Trinity for this undergraduate degree programme as it had the particularity of offering courses in the Study of Religion and World Religions, which were my main areas of interest. While these are the areas that I found attractive in the field, I ended up choosing many courses in Theology and Biblical studies as well and they proved to be really enriching and I loved the philosophical and ethical issues that we addressed. I also had the opportunity to take up a language in my second year and I chose Arabic, I have always enjoyed learning languages and this is one of my favourite classes. This is a small course and the department makes each student feel welcome and the lecturers are really are amazing. The course is varied and interesting and I would certainly recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about Religion in the modern world but also key debates and challenges in the history of religion.

I enjoy the contrast between my two main subjects, mathematics and economics, and find myself constantly engaged. Economics gives more concrete observations of reality, which complements the abstraction of mathematics. Both subjects are very versatile as degrees and can be helpful in pursuing a Masters or PhD, which is my current plan. However, if I decide to jump straight into working, my academic background will allow me to choose from a wide range of fields.
