The School of Social Sciences and Philosophy established the prestigious Grattan Scholars programme in 2012 to advance high-quality research and teaching at Trinity College Dublin. This initiative supports outstanding PhD students with the potential to become academic leaders and influential voices in social and economic development.
Scholars are selected for their academic excellence, dedication to teaching, and commitment to addressing pressing societal challenges through their research. Grattan Scholars also make an important contribution to undergraduate education in the Department, helping to enrich student learning through engaging and research-informed teaching.
Thanks to the generosity of Trinity’s alumni and friends, two Grattan Scholarships have been awarded to PhD students in the Department of Political Science, supporting work that advances our understanding of politics in Ireland and across the world.
