Irish Politics

This area examines political life in Ireland, from elections and parties to voter behaviour and long-term political change.

Overview

Members of the Department have played a leading role in major studies of politics in the Republic of Ireland, including Ireland’s first National Election Study in 2002 and subsequent studies following the 2007, 2011, and 2016 elections. Several staff contributed to the latest edition of Politics in the Republic of Ireland and to the How Ireland Voted series, including How Ireland Voted 2016. Other notable work includes Days of Blue Loyalty, the first study of the membership of an Irish political party, and A Conservative Revolution?, an analysis of electoral change in the early twenty-first century.
