Dr. Maria Dimitropoulou holds a PhD from Trinity College Dublin’s Centre for Language and Communication Studies, funded by the 1252 Trinity College Research Studentship and an A.G. Leventis Foundation Grant. Her doctoral research explored the experiences of Irish-speaking families in Ireland. She also earned an MPhil in Applied Linguistics (Distinction) and a BA in English Language and Literature (Summa Cum Laude), with additional study at Nottingham Trent University through Erasmus+. At Trinity, she teaches English for Academic Purposes (EAP), employing learner-centred approaches to support students’ academic and linguistic development, and delivers the undergraduate Multilingualism module. She has also contributed guest lectures to other linguistics courses and has experience teaching English as a Foreign Language in schools, as well as Modern Greek at the university level. Maria supervises postgraduate dissertations on topics such as multilingualism, (family) language policy, and language acquisition, and actively engages in interdisciplinary academic initiatives.
