The tutor-led placement initiative - a first for social work in Ireland - was developed through a collaboration between the School of Social Work and Social Policy, Trinity College Dublin, and the Social Work Department at St James’s Hospital. It was funded by the HSE HSCP Office Practice Education Support Initiative.
The report was launched by Amanda Casey , Chief Social Worker, HSE.
Jo Greene, independent researcher presented the findings of the evaluation with contributions from Professor Nicola Carr, School of Social Work and Social Policy, Trinity College, Paula Markey Principal Social Worker, St James' Hospital and Erna O'Connor, Director of Practice Education, Trinity College.
The launch was attended by representatives from key stakeholders in practice education in Ireland including the HSE, Tusla, the Probation Service and HEIs and provided an opportunity to discuss sustainable approaches in the development of practice-based education.
