Learning Innovation and Research Hub
The Learning Innovation and Research Hub aims to empower academic staff, teaching and learning support staff and students to respond to educational challenges by (co)researching pedagogical innovations, evaluating and, as appropriate, integrating innovations within College curricula.
Aims and Objectives
- Strengthening and consolidation of College expertise to pilot, evaluate and embed research-informed teaching practices, curricular reforms, and emerging technologies.
- Creation of a collaborative platform for academics, professional services, and students to co-create solutions to systemic challenges such as digital transformation, equitable access, AI integration, sustainability, and graduate employability.
- Consolidation of Trinity’s leadership in pedagogical research and curriculum design while building capacity for scalable, institution-wide enhancement in teaching and learning.
- Dissemination of effective practices that empower academic and professional staff, and students to respond effectively to the evolving higher educational landscape.
- Identification of learning innovations with potential to sustainably integrate and mainstream across Trinity curricula.
- Advance Trinity’s strategic priorities for teaching and learning enhancement.
Learning Innovation Research Hub Projects
MethodMentor (School of Education/CHARM-EU)
Developing an AI chatbot to support postgraduate student evaluation, reflection, comparison, and selection of Research Methods.
AI Teaching Assistant (AITA) Tool (School of Engineering)
Rolling out AI-based teaching and learning aids to modules in Civil/Mechanical Engineering.
SPEAK (School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences)
Co-designing (with diverse students) a simulation hub hosting a suite of realistic GenAI-driven patients for safe, independent practice of pharmacy consultation skills, with automated assessment and feedback.
New Horizons in Learning (School of Nursing & Midwifery)
Creating a forward-thinking, student-centred Undergraduate Nursing and Midwifery curriculum that fosters professional readiness, inclusivity, and adaptability.
