Posted on: 05 May 2026
KnEx recently welcomed leading figures from across the global medical technology sector as part of its ongoing collaboration with MedTech Innovator, the world’s largest accelerator for medical device, digital health, and diagnostics companies.
Trinity’s collaboration with MedTech Innovator, now spanning nearly a decade, has supported a number of high-potential Irish medtech spin-outs in accessing global markets, investment networks, and industry expertise.
Participation in the MedTech Innovator programme and engagement with the MedTech Strategist Innovation Summit have played a key role in accelerating the growth of these companies.

Vincent Coole, Director of Trinity KnEx, said: “Through our partnership with MedTech Innovator, we are connecting our medtech innovators with a global ecosystem of expertise, capital, and opportunity. This collaboration has been instrumental in enabling our spin-outs to scale internationally and deliver real impact for patients.”
The event highlighted a number of innovative medtech commercialisation projects emerging from Trinity. These included:
- NOVAP Medical, led by Brooke Tornifoglio and Emily Naylor, of the School of Engineering, which is developing an improved endotracheal intubation device designed to reduce ventilator-associated pneumonia and extend safe intubation time.
- RIBBON Medical, also of the School of Engineering, led by Conor Hayden and Marc Butterly, which is advancing a wearable lung volume monitoring system aimed at improving respiratory care and patient outcomes.
- BrainHealthy, led by Gavin O’Duffy, in collaboration with Prof. Sean Kennelly of the School of Medicine, which is focused on AI-based technologies that support brain health and neurological wellbeing.
The gathering reflects Trinity’s long-standing commitment to advancing healthcare innovation and its role as a leading source for medtech research, entrepreneurship, and commercialisation.
