Biography

Louise Kirke is a doctoral researcher at Trinity College Dublin, where her scholarly work investigates macro-level strategy, organisational governance and digital transformation within technology-driven business environments. Her research focuses on how modern enterprises navigate systemic technological shifts, build resilient governance structures, and manage complex socio-technical dynamics to sustain strategic alignment and competitive advantage in rapidly changing global markets.

Louise brings over two decades of extensive industry practice, executive education leadership, and higher education teaching experience to her academic endeavours. As an educator and curriculum architect, she has designed and delivered undergraduate(BSc), postgraduate Master’s (MSc), and executive-level modules across prominent higher education institutions, including Dublin City University, University College Dublin, and ICD Business School. Her pedagogical approach integrates challenge-based learning, executive case study analysis, and industry-aligned assessment frameworks, strictly aligned with AACSB and AMBA international accreditation standards. Louise’s teaching portfolio centres on critical business domains, including Business Ecosystems, Digital Transformation, and strategic multi-channel management.

Beyond her academic and pedagogical work, Louise has played a pivotal role in driving enterprise innovation and supporting civic leadership. She has secured in excess of €1.8 million in enterprise and research funding in collaboration with leading academic institutions, Enterprise Ireland, and Skillnet—initiatives exploring SME Lean transformation capabilities and core system modernisations as socio-technical drivers of strategic realignments.

Louise holds a Master of Science (Hons) in E-Commerce from Dublin City University alongside a foundational academic background in computer and information sciences from University of Ulster. This interdisciplinary training—spanning commercial systems, digital platforms, and strategic management—underpins her approach to researching how digital infrastructure, enterprise strategy, and institutional governance shape the future of organisations.

Additionally, she serves as a Board Director on a non-profit / charitable organisation, supporting strategic planning, organisational oversight, and community initiatives.

Louise welcomes collaborative engagement with academic researchers and industry partners on research themes including:

  • Strategic Management & Digital Transformation: High-level enterprise strategy, platform dynamics, and digital business model evolution.
  • Organisational Governance & Control: Governance frameworks, structural accountability, and systems control during major technological shifts.
  • Business Ecosystems & Platform Strategy: Inter-organisational networks, platform governance, and value-creation mechanics in modern ecosystems.
  • Socio-Technical Environments: High-level interactions between emerging technologies, executive decision-making, and institutional practice.
