Outgoing Exchange
Global Business students have the opportunity to study abroad in the third (junior sophister) year for a semester or, in some cases, for the full year, as part of our extensive Exchange Programme.
For Business and Language students, exchange in the third year is compulsory.
Trinity Business School has over 50 institutional partners in around 17 countries.
Students also have access to over thirty Trinity College Partners suitable for Business. Students of BESS and Trinity Joint Honours may be eligible to attend partners of their other subject’s School/Department.
As this is an exchange programme, tuition fees at the host institution are waived. Students pay their normal TCD fees and will also receive any of their usual grants (plus a SUSI top-up if relevant). Students attending EU partner institutions will also be eligible to receive Erasmus+ funding (this varies every year and depends on the destination). Students attending non-EU partners may apply for the TCD Global Mobility Bursary. Please note that these grants are paid after you commence your studies abroad.
For Trinity Joint Honours: Computer Science and Business and Law and Business students should follow the exchange application arrangements of their respective Schools. Trinity Business School provides advice on the academic suitability of proposed Business modules but does not manage exchange applications or allocations for these programmes.
Business Exchange Office does not handle grants or scholarships. For questions about grants, please contact the Global Mobility team at Global.Mobility@tcd.ie and check the following:

To be eligible for an exchange, a student must have attained at least an overall grade of 50% in their first year, which must be maintained in the second year (this does not apply to Business and a Language students). It is a competitive process, based on first-year grades, and there are limited places available in each institution.
GB and BESS Business pathway students should review the Exchange Handbook to understand the process and students' responsibilities while on exchange. They can also refer to the Frequently Asked Questions section.

Application deadlines:
Deadline for students applying for a College-wide International Exchange (Outside of EU): Friday, 20 November 2026 at 5.00 p.m.
Students applying for an Erasmus or School Exchange (TBS/SSSP): Friday, 20 November 2026
The allocation process is not based on a first-come, first-served basis, so submitting your application(s) earlier does not give you an advantage. Current Junior Sophister students
BESS and GB students should make sure to go through the Exchange Journey (grade conversion tables under ‘Step 6: Transcript’) to understand the processes as well as the responsibilities of students on exchange. They can also refer to the Frequently Asked Questions section and read the information available in the BB JS Group.
BSL students need to consult with their Language pathway coordinators and Business exchange account contemporaneously to finalise their study plans aligned with both of their pathways.
When returning from exchange, students need to submit their transcript as soon as it becomes available. Semester-1-only exchanges are processed with the TCD annual exams in May if transcripts are received in time. Semester 2 and full-year exchange results are processed with the TCD supplemental exams in late August.
Students must regularly check their TCD email during their exchange.
